I must admit I’m probably one of the most impatient people on the planet. So expecting a blessing or opportunity in due season is one of the hardest concepts for me to grasp. For that matter, for me to accept. So I really thank God I’m not a farmer because I’d be in BIG trouble. But I’m reminded that the Bible is very specific in telling us to be anxious for nothing.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
To be honest though, the idea of planting a seed today and waiting on a harvest months to come is brutal. Look I’m just trying to be transparent here because I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way. So of course God is always giving me some tough life lesson on the value of patience and waiting on things to grow & prosper in the right time and season so that’s what I’d like to share with you today.
SPRING
I look at Spring as the season of hope and rejuvenation. It’s not anywhere near as brutal as winter. Yes it usually rains like cats & dogs but we know that in only a few more months the beauty & warmth of Summer is just ahead. The valuable lesson in this season is patience because we’re not necessarily where we want to be but with time and with God showering us with his love daily we’re well on our way to greatness!
SUMMER
Summer is the season of abundance and prosperity. This is when the flowers start to blossom and the sun shines so bright not only on the Earth but in our lives. This is where freedom is birthed and our smile and confidence in God gets a bit brighter. But we have to realize that just as all the other seasons of life this one unfortunately doesn’t last forever. So as they say soak up as much of the UV rays as possible because Fall is just around the corner.
FALL
I think of Fall as the season of shedding & re-birth this where we shake off all of the stuff that’s happened over the previous nine months and get prepared to start the cycle of of life all over again. Just as the trees begin to lose their leaves and the temperature becomes a bit less forgiving. We know in our heart of hearts that in order for life to be, seasons are inevitable and things will continue to evolve. So with regards to getting set free we are constantly being set free as we weather the seasons of life. That’s why it is so important that we not get too caught up on any one moment because it’s always bound to change. But whether we see it or not this is how we grow. It takes all of the elements of life to make the Earth what it is today and the same holds true for you and I. Its the mix of the good with the bad, the ups with the downs that make us who we are. We are being set free day after day regardless of what season of life we find ourselves in. Just know that whatever God wills for your life can & will happen in due season. This is your ticket to true peace, true love, and true joy. Let me say hovever, God doesn’t necessarily announce the seasons of life to us. But his word does promise that their is a time and season for everything under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to plant and a time to uproot
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and time to throw away, a time to tear a time to mend
a time to be silent
and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
We must trust God with our lives knowing that he knows what is best. He knows the reason for every season in our lives. It is only when we trust his plan and his timing for our lives that we will truly be set free. For whom the Son sets free is free indeed! John 8:36 . It is when we take him at his word and patiently await his promises that our life resembles everything we imagined it to be.
