Break the Chain. Challenge the Status Quo

DAMAGED GOODS

Written & published by Lolita Buck

It’s clear as day in today’s society all have sinned & fallen short of his glory. Just look around you. The good news however; is we’re all in the same boat. I’m no better than you and you’re no better than me. i.e. we’re all on an equal playing field.

The beauty of it all is that God has a way of working with all of our mess. Now isn’t that amazing! He’s somehow able to create a message of hope through each of our lives no matter how jacked up they may be.

Truth be told, most of us are only willing to expose our truth because of our confidence in God’s ability to create something out of nothing. Otherwise why would we subject ourselves to the scrutiny of others if we don’t have to?

I personally stand firm on Romans 8:28

” And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose”

Having said that, i’m convinced that no matter how damaged we are, God has a way of using everything! The good & bad; the strong & weak; the fruitful & barren he weaves it all together to create a beautiful tapestry. Nobody but God could do something this awesome! What better way to demonstrate his power than through broken vessels.

I challenge each of you today to embrace your brokenness. It is only in our weakness that his strength becomes prevalent. We need to stop acting like we’ve got it all together when our lives are literally falling apart at the seam. We need to do as the song says, allow the potter to put us back together again. He’s certainly ready, willing, and able. We’ve just got to let go of the reins and turn it all over to him.

I named this blog “katalambano it” a biblical term which simply means to take eagerly or take by force. I think so many of us are misled in our walk with God. We think that in our own power and strength we can move mountains which isn’t true. Now does our faith along with our works play a role? Of course they do, but we can do absolutely nothing without God’s support.

So although this blog is about empowering women to break free and claim their “it”. Its just as much, if not more so about working in conjunction with God to make our life long dreams a reality. That is, as long as they line up with his will for our lives.

I’m reminded of the scripture Philippians 4:13

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”

Ladies we’ve got all these movements today. ” Black girls rock”, “Me too”, & “Black women at work” just to name a few. But none of these compare to the move of God! Our platform is only as strong as the God that we serve backing us. Let’s make sure we’re aligning our lives with his word, and following his commands & decrees. That way we can become the beautiful, amazing, women he created us to be!

As you go forward in your daily journey I extend love & peace to each of you. I pray that you find your “it” and you OWN IT. That the chains of this world be broken off of you & that you walk in the light that God intended you to walk in.

With dedication & servitude

About Me

During the day I help people see the world better as an optician. However, it has always been a lifelong dream of mine to empower women spiritually. To date I have written two self-published books titled “Starting from Scratch & Did You Get the Memo?”.

In my spare time I like to write Christian articles as well. I have written for publications such as The Lutheran Journal, Victory Herald, & Good News Today just to name a few. When I am not writing I love to listen to music, binge watch my favorite television shows, watch football, (Yes ladies I am a HUGE NFL fan) or simply curl up with a good book & sip on a cup of hot chocolate.

This blog is my attempt to create a community of sorts where women of God can uplift & encourage one another. But also keep it real….I am extremely grateful for this opportunity & look forward to the journey together. All I have left to say is KATALAMBANO IT!!
